Mrs. Ralph W. Graves, Bardwell, Dies at 70

Bardwell, KY, Apr 23 (1970):Eva L. Graves, wife of Ralph W. Graves, died unexpectedly at 5 p.m. Wednesday at her home here following a heart attack.  She was 70.  Mrs. Graves, a native of Christian County, had lived here since 1917.  Her husband is the retired publisher of the Carlisle County News.  A son, Ralph E. Graves, is the present publisher of the paper, and also represents the First District in the State House of Representatives.  Mrs. Graves was a member of the Bardwell United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Bardwell Woman's Club, Bardwell Mother's Club, Sunshine Homemakers, and Woman's Society for Christian Service.  Besides her husband and son, she leaves another son, Joe T. Graves, Jackson, Miss.; four daughters, Mrs. James D. Mason, Harvey, Ill.; Mrs. Cecil Page, Jackson, Tenn.; Mrs. Ottis Valentine, Murray; and Mrs. Bob Petrie, Cunningham; four sisters, Mrs. Wallace Tanner, Sr., Paducah; Mrs. Bert Carroll, Paducah; Mrs. J. P. Quarrels, Heath; and Mrs. Curtis King, Grand Rivers; a brother E. J. Roper, Paducah; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete.  Friends may call at Milner Funeral home after 6 p.m. today.

(Note:  Eva Lillian was a great granddaughter of Rachel Atkins and Charles Roper.  She was a great great granddaughter of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins.)
