Granite City Woman Dies at Home Of Parents Here (Clarksville, TN)

Funeral service for Mrs. Buthel Mae Beasley, 26, wife of Paul Beasley, Granite City, IL, who died Saturday night (Aug 23, 1939) at 9 o'clock at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wyatt, 413 South Second Street, were conducted this afternoon at the Church of the Nazarene by the Rev. Earl W. Powell.  Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Lewis and Glen Beasley of Granite City; Lester Clements; Leslie, Emmett and Thurman Lewis.  Mrs. Beasley had been in ill health for several months and for the past seven weeks had been undergoing treatment at the home of her parents.  Born January 19, 1913, the daughter of L. E. and Letta Lewis Wyatt, Mrs. Beasley was a native of Stewart County.  On September 17, 1932, she was married to Mr. Beasley and moved to Granite City.  Surviving are the husband, a son, Paul Dean Beasley, and a daughter, Shirley Mae Beasley; her parents, and two sisters, Mrs. Lester Clements and Miss Elsie Marie Wyatt, both of Clarksville.  She was a member of the Semily Church of God at Granite City.

(Note:  Buthel Mae was a great granddaughter of Mitchell James Wyatt, one of the Wyatt twins raised by Rachel Atkins and Charles Roper.  She was also a great great granddaughter of Elizabeth O. Atkins and Daniel Lewis, making her a 3^rd great granddaughter of Rev. War soldiers Thomas Lewis and Lewis Atkins.)
