C. C. Wall Dies – Funeral to be on Saturday

Clayton C. Wall, 62, died of a heart attack at 12:05 a.m. today at his home, 1754 Madison Street.  Death was unexpected.  Mr. Wall was a salesman for Chambers Motor Company.  Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds Funeral Home.  The Rev. C. G. Sego will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers.  Mr. Wall was a native of Stewart County and was born May 31, 1896, son of the late Norvel and Mirandy Threatt Wall.  He had been a resident of Montgomery County for the past 30 years.  He was a veteran of World War I, member of the American Legion and the Berea Baptist Church.  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nannie St. John Wall, to whom he was married November 29, 1917; a daughter, Mrs. Ed Hewell, Clarksville; two brothers, Wilber A. Wall, Clarksville; William Wall, Bumpus Mills; two sisters, Mrs. Morris Griffen, Big Rock, and Mrs. Russell Walker, Indian Mound; and two grandsons.

(Note:  Clayton C. Wall was a great grandson of Charles and Rachel Atkins Roper and a gg grandson of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins and his wife Rebecca.)
