Marvin R. Walker, 74, 155 Fairview Lane,
died Monday at his
residence. He was retired from the
Clarksville Gas & Water Department and was a member of Cumberland
Drive
Baptist Church. The funeral will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tarpley’s Chapel with the Rev. James
Swafford
officiating. Burial will be in Smith
Cemetery, Big Rock. Visitation will be
after noon today at Tarpley’s Chapel.
Walker was born Dec. 26, 1909, Big Rock, the son of Martin and
Tinne
Selph Walker. Survivors
include his
wife, Carlene Simpson Walker; two daughters, Betty Byron and Clara
Christopher,
both of Clarksville; a brother George Edward Walker, Wilmington, IL;
and three
sisters, Ethel James, Emma Dee Lehman and Blanch Newman, all of
Clarksville.

Walker was a great grandson of James J. and Dolly Vickers Atkins; a gg
grandson
of William S. and Lucy Atkins; and a ggg grandson of Rev. War soldier
Lewis
Atkins.)
