Pearl Atkins Richardson

May 29, 1910 – Dec 4, 1988

Pearl A. Richardson, 78, Route 12, died at Memorial Hospital Sunday, Dec. 4, 1988, after an extended illness.  The funeral was held Tuesday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Thomas Dowdy and Archie Bridges officiating.  Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.  She was born May 29, 1910, in Stewart County, a daughter of Allen and Maggie Wilson Atkins.  She was the widow of Garnett Richardson.  She was a retired civil service employee and a member of Forrest Street United Methodist Church.  Survivors include a brother, Kelly Atkins, Cunningham; and four sisters, Pauline Bueche, Denver; Harriet Wright, Houston, TX; Mattie Murray, San Antonio, TX; and Aileen Ross, Bumpus Mills.  Pallbearers will be Wilton Wyatt, Alvin Hall, Earl Eighmy, Bobby Jones, Curtis Blane, Howard Hatcher, William Harrell and Woodrow Ross.  In lieu of other memorials, contributions may be made to the Forrest Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

(Note:  On her mother’s side, Pearl was a gg granddaughter of Milberry Thomason and Richard S. Atkins and Bazel and Martha Hood Smith.  On her father’s side, she was also a gg granddaughter of Bazel and Martha Hood Smith and William S. and Lucy Atkins.  She was a ggg granddaughter of Rev. War soldier Lewis Atkins on both her mother and her father’s sides.)
