Rufus Ross Lewis

Rufus Ross Lewis, 64, retired farmer of Allensville, Kentucky, died Tuesday, November 16, 1976, at his residence after a sudden illness.  Services were conducted Thursday, November 18, at 2 pm., at Anglin Memorial Chapel by the Rev. John Casey.  Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound.  Mr. Lewis was born in Stewart County, Sept. 4, 1912, son of the late Thomas H. and Nina Ross Lewis.  He was a member of Saddlersville United Methdist Church.  He was a veteran of WWII having served with the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of Red River Masonic Lodge No. 537 and member of the Eastern Star.  Survivors are his wife Mrs. Christine Wyatt Lewis, whom he married Dec. 23, 1943; one son, B. D. Lewis, Allensville; one daughter, Mrs. Jean Higgins, Allensville; five grandchildren.

(Note:  Rufus Ross Lewis was a gg grandson of Elizabeth O. Atkins and Daniel Lewis.  He was a ggg grandson of Rev. War soldiers Thomas Lewis and Lewis Atkins.)
