The last will and testament of James Powell of Montgomery County, TN in 1839.  Children: Aaron, William, Emaline, Henry W., and John.  Wife Elizabeth. l

In the name of God.  Amen.  I James Powell of the country of Montgomery and state of Tennepee Constitute and ordain this my last will & Testament.  Now bearing of sound mind and bad health will my estate in the manner as form following (to wit).
Item 1st my will and desire is that my just debts should be paid out of my estate.
Item 2nd.  I am and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Powell all the ballance of my estate during her natural life.
Item 3.  After the death of my wife Elizabeth my will and desire is that Ann Eliza Manipan? have one bid and furniture, the daughter of William & Eliza Manipan?.
Item 4th.  My will and desire is that the ballance of the estate be Equal divide amongst all my living children.  Named as follows: Aaron Powell, William Powell, Emaline Powell, Henry W. Powell, & John Powell.
My wish and desire that my son Aaron and my wife Elizabeth be my Executors.  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my bond and affixed my seal this 3rd day of December 1839 working all other will ?? made.
