ERIN—John James Hughes, 86, of Route 1, Erin was pronounced dead on arrival at Trinity Hospital in Erin Wednesday morning. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Nave Erin Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Paul Ford and the Rev. Robert Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Hughes was born in Houston County on July 30, 1892, son of the late Billy and Sally Keel Hughes. His wife, Ida Mae Brooks Hughes, preceded him in death. He was a Houston County magistrate for 30 years and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two sons, Truman Hughes and Ewing Hughes, both of Erin; two daughters, Addie Horn and Betty Hughes, both of Erin; two brothers, Paul Hughes and Mark Hughes, both of Erin; five grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild.
Pallbearers will be Archie Brooks, Billy Jim Hughes, Ewing Lomax, Victor Dillard, Velton Chic Rye, Russell Clark, Robert Brown and James Ray Warfield.
