I John T Hill being of sound mind and memory being old and infirm of body & Knowing that I may die at any time do make and publish this my last Will and testament – Item 1st I will that all my Just debts be paid our of my estate as soon as it can be done – Item 2nd I will & bequeath & devise to my daughters Eliza Collins wife of James Collins & Thetus McGraw wife of Wm McGraw to the two children of my daughter  Martha Collins deceased late wife of Eli Collins the tract of land on which I now reside of 128 acres more or less – that is my two Grand Children the Children of sd Martha is to have one third each to them & their heirs  Item 3rd I give to the two Children of Mercer Cherry Mary & Eliza Cherry my Negro Girl Dorthula – Item 4 I give to Jesse Hill & Burton Hill my sons the Negro Woman Susan & all her increase born after this day with the understanding however my son Jesse is to pay my son Burton Seventy Four Dollars out of the legacy here given him – Item I give to Sarah Hill Wm L Hill  & Jno M Hill my children one Dollar each & no more & I give to George Washington Hill one Dollar  Item 6 I appoint Richard N Hatcher H P Carney & Reuben T Pollard my executors  Witness my hand & seal – this Febuary 22d 1851                                                                                         his

I John T Hill make this as my Codicil to the foregoing Will & do hereby revoke the bequest of  the slave Dorthula to the Children of Mercer Cherry & do hereby bequeath & will the sd Negro Dorthula to the female Children of my daughter Thetus whether now borned or hereafter borned before my death  June 21, 1851                                                                                                                            his

Note:  George Washington Hill was John T. Hill’s son by his second wife, Nancy Sawyer Hill, who left John’s “bed and board” shortly after George W. Hill was born in 1834 and was finally divorced from John T. Hill in 1840 in Logan Co, KY.
