    This indenture made this 19th day of August A.D. 1851 between Tho C Rockhill, Mary Rockhill, Tho C. Rockhill Jr., M.C. Rockhill & E.A. Rockhill hun? At law of Abram C. Rockhill, all of Pennsylvania of the first part & Uriah Murff of Montgomery County Tenn. of the second part witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for & in consideration of the sum of twenty eight dollars to them paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold & conveyed & by these presents do bargain sell alien convey & confirm unto the said Uriah Murff his heirs & assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Montgomery County Tenn. & bounded as follows Viz Beginning at a locust & dogwood James Mallory’s corner standing East of his spring & running thence East six poles to pointer, thence north 38 deg. East 114 poles to a locust standing in a hollow, thence East 43 poles to the north bank of Shaw spring branch, thence north 62 deg. West 54 poles to a chinquapin oak a corner of Sarah Woodson’s dower, thence west with said dower line 79 ½ poles to a stake the south west corner of said dower, thence south 3 deg. East with said Mallory’s line 116 poles to the beginning containing 40 acres more or less. To have & to hold the aforesaid land with all the improvements hereditaments  & appertinaners thereunto belonging to the said parties of the first part for themselves their heirs, executor, & administrator covenant to warrant & ever defend said land & premises to the said Uriah Murff his heirs & assigns against the right title interest & claim of all persons whomsoever in testimony whereof the said parties of the first part, by their Atto. In fact & Trabue hereto set their hand & seals day & year first above written.
