John Murff

50 acres of land in M.C. Tenn

   This indenture made this 10th day of December the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & five between Squire Choate of Montgomery County and state of Tennessee of the one part and John Murff of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid by the said  J. Murff to the said Squire  Choate before the signing and sealing these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold alined conveyed and confirmed and by these presents no bargain sell alien axed confirm and convey unto the said John Murff one certain tract or parcel of Land containing fifty acres be the same more or less, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid being part of 640 acres originally granted by the State of North Carolina unto James Hollis and by him conveyed to others No. of Grant 185 bearing date seventeenth March 1786. Butted and bounded as follows (to ivit) Beginning at red oak Josiah Ramsey & James Turners corner, thence along said Turner line North forty six degrees. Et. one hundred & seventy six poles to Dogwood, thence South forty four poles to white oak on N. side branch, thence south 10 degrees West twenty poles to Black Walnut, thence South thirty degrees west one hundred and seventy poles to Dogwood and Poplar, thence South sixty seven degrees West sixty seven poles to white oak , thence North to beginning which said tract or parcel of Land contained in the aforesaid described bound with all and singular the rights and privileges emoluments hereditaments belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained premises unto the only proper use and behalf of him the said John Murff his heirs and assigns forever and the said Squire Choate for himself his heirs Executors Administrators of assigns do covenant and agree to and with the aforesaid John Murff his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the premises aforesaid clear of the claim or claims of all person or persons whatever. In witness whereof the said Squire Choate doth his unto set his hand and affix his seal the day and date within written
