MAHALEY CHANCE TO ROBERT STEELE, SENIOR

I Mahaley Chance widow of Thomas Chance have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Robert Steele Sen (Senior) and his heirs forever for the consideration of four Hundred dollars to me paid a tract of Land in the State of Tennessee Montgomery County being that tract purchased by said Mahaley Chance from Steele & Sox as appears by deed of same from said Steele & Sox to said Mahaley Chance dated the Fourteenth day of August 1837 and being a tract deeded to said Steele & Sox by Henry C. Rye, containing by estimation one hundred acres, by the same more or less and bounded as follows. Beginning at a Beach on the East Bank of the East Fork of Town Creed Forty Poles below the Rocky Spring running West Twenty Seven poles to a stake thence South one hundred and Six and one half poles to a stake thence East one hundred and fifty one poles to a stake then North one hundred and Six and one half poles to a stake in Johnsons line, then with said line one hundred and twenty four poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the same to the said Robert Steele Sen his heirs and assigns Steele & Sox to said Mahaley Chance dated the Fourteenth day of August 1837 and being a tract Deeded to said Steele & Sox by Henry C Rye, containing by estimation One Hundred Acres, be the same more or less and, bounded as follows. Beginning at a Beach on the East Bank of the East Fork of Town Creek Forty Poles below the Rocky Spring running West Twenty Seven poles to a stake thence South one hundred and Six and one half poles to a stake in Johnsons line, then with said line one hundred and twenty four poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the same to the said Robert Steele Sen his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said Robert Steele Sen that I am lawfully seized of said Land & have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered with the exception of the reservation of the privilege retained in the said Steele & Sox deed to me of ore wood and Roads. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title of the said Lands and every part thereof (with the exception of the abover reservation which is not vested in me) to the said Robert Steele Sen his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever In testimony of which I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this the 31st day of July 1855
