*Earliest date found that can be documented with primary/secondary
evidence.
I have been researching and preserving the Killebrew Cemetery (also
known as the Killebrew-McDaniel Cemetery on your web site) for quite a
few years. The research will continue until I have exhausted all
records. Having started with the earliest newspaper in 1808, I am
now through 1939. I know that my great-uncle, Ed McDaniel, was the
last individual buried in
the cemetery in 1952, so I have a few more years to research.
My 2nd great-grandparents, Edwin and Mary (Williams) Killebrew founded
the cemetery probably in the 1820's when Edwin build their Federal style
home called "High Point." However, the earliest date proven is 1847
with the death of Edwin Killebrew. There are 11 tombstones, two funeral
home metal markers (without the card), many field stones and even more
sunken graves. Researching obituaries have provided information
of others buried in this cemetery.
My great-grandparents, James Lewis and Rachel Ann (Slaughter) Killebrew are also buried in the cemetery with only a field stone marking their graves.
I have placed my book titled "Killebrew Cemetery," annotated, in the
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library and the Nashville, Tennessee
Archives. These books will be updated each time I can document up
to two additional individuals buried in the cemetery.
