HOUSE, 69th General Assembly, 1935-37; representing Montgomery County; Democrat. Born at Clarksville, Montgomery County, Oct 14, 1905; son of Thomas Martin and Dorothy B. (McDonnell) Traughber. Attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Clarksville, to 1920; graduated from Clarksville High School, 1924; attended University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN, 1924-30, receiving A.B. and LL.B. degrees. Married at Fairault, Rice County, Minnesota, Nov 29, 1945 to Helen Patricia Gallagher, daughter of P. J. and Helen (McCall) Gallagher of Fairault; one son - Thomas Patrick. Practiced law at Clarksville 1930-36; investigator for US Treasury Dept, 1936-42; after military service, returned to law practice, 1945-50; district attorney general, 1950-58; removed to Minnesota, 1959; admitted to Minnesota bar, 1960; in law practice at Minneapolis, MN, since 1960. Chairman Montgomery County Election Commission, 1946-50; member State Democratic Executive Committee, 1946-57; delegate to Democratic National Convention 1952; represented Montgomery County in State Constitutional Convention of 1959; in 1964 special assistant, in taxation, to Attorney General of Minnesota. In World War II; inducted into service, Montgomery County, Mar 26, 1942; rank of Pvt. and Corp. 1942-43; Eighth Air Force; commissioned 1943; honorable discharge at Sioux Falls, SD, Dec 30, 1945, with rank of Capt; awarded EAME Service Medal. Member Roman Catholic Church and of Immaculate Conception Parish while in Clarksville; Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Loyal Order of Moose; Veterans of Foreign Wars, commanding Post 4895 during 1947-48; member American Legion, Forty and Eight.
