HOUSE, 61st General Assembly, 1919-21; representing Montgomery and Houston Counties; Democrat. Born in Montgomery County, June 7, 1891; son of Robert Dean and Mattie (Harvey) Swift. Attended county schools. Married first in 1921 to Vida Knott of Bumpass Mills, Montgomery County [sic]; she died in 1926; children - Frances, Bruce, William, and Wilson; second marriage, in 1938, to Nora Castelberry; no children indicated. Merchant in early life; salesman; operated a mill; engaged in farming near Cumberland Furnace, Montgomery County [sic]. Member of county court. Member Methodist Episcopal Church; Junior Order of United American Mechanics; Columbia Sovereign Clan. Died at Clarksville, Montgomery County, Apr 26, 1939; buried in Batson graveyard, Montgomery County.
