Stewart, Charles  (c.1760 -   --?-- )

HOUSE, 4th General Assembly, 1801-03; representing Montgomery County. Born in Sampson or Bladen County, NC, c. 1760; son of William and Janet (Wilkinson) Stewart. Extent of schooling not determined. Married in Wake County, NC, Apr 11, 1798 to Polly Jones, daughter of Tingnall and Penelope Jones; one son - Tingnall. Came to Tennessee at undetermined date; acquired much land in Montgomery County; participated in many land transactions; operated a mill, 1810, on West Fork of Red River; engaged in practice of law. Appointed property appraiser by Montgomery County Court, 1805. Moved to Mississippi. Date and place of death not determined; buried at Ventress Place, Wilkinson County, MS. Twin brother of Duncan Stewart, sometime member TN General Assembly.
