Leslie Powers

December 12, 1983

  Leslie Jennings Powers, 75, of Madison died Monday at Madison Hospital after a brief illness.
  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evangel Temple, 3838 Dickerson Road, in Madison with the
Rev. Jimmy Snow officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
  Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. today at Sykes Chapel. And, visitation will also be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at Evangel Temple, Madison.
  Powers was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Montgomery County, son of Rev. M.C. Powers and Althea Green Powers.
  He was a retired groceryman and sporting goods clerk. He was a member of Evangel Temple, Madi­son, the Masons and was a Shriner.
  Survivors include his wife, Louise Hickman Powers, Madison; five sons, Lew Mastin “Mike” Powers, St Cloud, Fla., Samuel L. Powers, Hen­derson, David Lynn Powers, Tusca­loosa, Ala., Joe Jennings Powers and Gene M. Powers, both of Camden; two stepdaughters, Janice Peircey and Rene Spencer, both of Nash­ville; five brothers, Carl L Powers, Dover, Dr. W.M. Powers and Walter L. Powers, both of Clarksville Allen M. Powers, Dickson, and Dr. James M. Powers, Waverly; four sisters, Louise McDonald, Bertha Tomlinson and Frances Grannis, all of Waverly, and Dorothy Hiett, Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchil­dren; and six great-grandchildren.
  Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
