D.E. Marable Dies

          December 2, 1965

          Rites December 5

   Funeral services for Dossie Edwin Marable, 74, were held Sunday, December 5, 1965 at 2:00 p.m. at the Erin Methodist
Church, by the Rev. Woodward A. Adams and Rev. Isham A. Har­ris, Jr. Burial was in the Ce­dar Hill Cemetery with Wiseman
Funeral Home of Erin in charge.

Mr. Marable died suddenly in Nashville on Thursday of a heart attack while on a shopping trip with his daughter.

  A native of Houston County he was born November 18, 1891, son of the late George L. and Dora Daniel Marable.

  He had taught school in the Houston County School system for 14 years and served as Superinten-dent of Schools from 1923 to 1926.

    He was a member of the Houston County Quarterly Court. He was a member of the Methodist Church, where he was a member of the official board, and was a Mason. He was owner and operator of Marable’s Variety & Supply Store on the Square for many years.

  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ollie Powers Marable; two daughters, Miss Mary Elizabeth Marable, Erin. and Mrs. Ludelia Thomas, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sons, Billy Marable, Knox­ville, and George L. Marable, Fort Lauderdale; two brothers. Arthur Marable, Erin, and Dovie Marable Johnson City,Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. C. C. Steed, Johnson City, and five grand­children.
