Born in Steward County on Sept. 9, 1905, the son of the late Archie and Penny Vaughn Powers.

He leaves his wife Laura Gray Powers; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Adams of Granite City, Ill. And Mrs. Doris Lester of Lebanon; a brother Dalton Powers of Cumberland City; four sisters, Mrs. L----- Clements and Mrs. Ethel Holmes, both of Cumberland City, Mrs. Eddie Howell of Erin, Mrs. Thelma Clements of Granite City, and six grandchildren.
