         Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Powers Vaughn, 88 were conducted March 18 at 2 p.m. at Nave Funeral home in Erin with the Rev. Clyde Brake and the Rev Thomas Haliburton officiating. Burial was in the Cumberland City Cemetery.

    Mrs Vaughn, a resident if Cumberland City died Friday at Trinity hospital in Erin after an extended illness

    She was born March 22 1896, in Stewart County She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mollie Smith Powers.

   Mrs. Vaughan was the wife of the late Alva Lewis Vaughn, who died Jan. 17, 1954 She was the oldest member of the McKendree Method­ist Church.

   She is survived by two sons: Ray Vaughn of Cumberland City and R. P. Vaughn of Phoenix. Ariz.; and one grandchild

   Pallbearers were Ryan Holley, Robert Russell. Ernie Walker, Mitchell
