Harris Fort
Oct. 30, 1972
Harris Fort 78 retired Civil Service worker who resided at the Montgomery Hotel. died at 3:15 a.m. today in General Care Convalescent Center following an illness of a year.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Tarpley Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Carl Gadsey burial will be in Greenwood
Mr. Fort was born in Christian Co., Ky. Sept. 10, 1894, son of the late
Robert and Mattie Harris Fort. He had lived in Montgomery Co. most
of his life and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He
was a veteran of World War I and was a member of American Legion Post 7.
His wife Mae Walker Fort, preceded him in death.
Survivors are a son Bobby D. Fort. Florence. Ala. a step- daughter,
Mrs. Elizabeth Knight Clarksville. four sisters. Mrs G. G. Barbee, Clarksville:
Mrs. W. B. Drake. Ripley. Tenn. . Mrs. G. G Graber. Ashland, Ky. and Mrs.
Frank Hambaugh, Birmingham. Ala. five grandchildren: four greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George B. Barbee. Chester Adair, Bobby M. Fort.
Leon Moore, Lewis Dorris, Arden Farmer, and Carl Killebrew.
