He served in the Civil War as a Union soldier in the
3rd TN Cav (Co.B/F). From 5/27/1865-7/17/1865, he made Lt. and Adjutant with 5th Tenn MI He was needed to help with the discharges after the war thanks to his penmanship.
Lawrence was born on Feb. 7, 1839 to Lawrence & Jestuana Golden Forkner.
He married Nancy Clara Johnston. He died Aug. 30, 1881 and he is buried in the Forkner Family Cem.
