John C. R. Hardin

John married Mary "Pollie" Kirkland on 4
March 1828 at Waynesville, Haywood
County, NC.,
by William Parker, JP. Mary was born in 1810 in NC. She was the
daughter of John Jackson Kirkland and Sarah "Sallie" Shelton Kirkland and
the granddaughter of Nathan and Lillie Berrie Faw Kirkland.
John and Mary "Pollie" Kirkland Hardin are buried at the
Mt. Zion Cemetery,
near Vonore, Monroe Co., TN
John C.R. Hardin served in the Army
during the War of 1812. He served in
Captain Samuel Parson's Company of Infantry, belonging to Lt. Col. S.
Tucker's
Regiment of South Carolina Militia. He enlisted on 1 March 1814 at the
Pendleton
District Courthouse, S.C. His military service was terminated by reason of
wounds
received in the war and service records show he was in the hospital just
before his
Honorable Discharge was issued on 21 March 1814. His military records show
that he
was six feet tall, had blue eyes, light hair, and fair complexion.
