John Ellis's wife's death in February 1909. Her name was Lucinda Cordelia Kilby (Ellis),
daughter of Adam & Malinda Wilson Kilby of
Monroe Co., TN.
She is buried in the Green
Cove Cemetery.
Rev. John Allen Ellis, born 17 Aug
1866 in Cherokee Co., NC., died 2 Nov 1955 in
Coker Creek, Monroe, TN. He was born to Aphonzo
"Fonds" Ellis (1823-1882) & Martha
Jane Starnes (1840-1920). Martha was the daughter of Ira Starnes & Anna McGinty or McGinniss
(Anna m. 2nd to William Graves.)
John Ellis married 9 May 1892,
Cherokee Co., NC., Lucinda Cordelia
Kilby. She was born
28 Mar 1865 in Rabun Co., GA., died 20 Feb 1910 in Rafter, Monroe, TN. (She
is buried
with her son William born 18 Dec 1909, who died the same day she did.). She
was the daughter
of Adam Kilby (1816-1916) & Malinda Wilson
(1821-?). Cordelia married 1st to James
Anderson Winkler and had son, Arthur, who went by the name of Ellis, but is
buried as
Arthur Winkler in Green
Cove Cemetery.
Lucinda and John's children married
as follows: Fonds Allen m. Beatrice Spivey;
Ora Lee m. Luther Spivey; Zack md.
Kate Orr; Zeke md. Mary Bell Martin;
Ben m. Susie Mae Martin; Phoebe m. Ike Deaton and Renie
