I am helping a Cherokee friend in OK detail his family tree.Would like to confirm that the apparent location of the formerHiwassee Cherokee Agency in the early 1800s was on the north side theHiwassee River between SR 58 (west) and the Meigs/McMinn county line(east). If that is the case, was this also the location of the HiwasseeGarrison where Col. Return Jonathan Meigs, the namesake of Meigs Co.,TN was buried? Is his grave still accessible or has it been movedand/or designated a historical site?
