Cemeteries of Meigs County, Tennessee
Anderson Located on the south side of Highway 60 about one and two tenths of a mile northwest of Highway 58 in Hamilton County. Highway 60 is on the county line between Meigs and Hamilton counties.
Arrants Located northeast of Highway 30 and northwest of No Pone Valley Road on Burn Tree Farm property.
Ashley Located on what is known as George Dennis place. Take highway 30 east one half mile to No Pone Valley Road. The cemetery is behind the Mattie Bowman place. All unmarked graves.
Baker-Moulton From Decatur, take Highway 58 north to Highway 68 north toward Watts Bar Dam. Then Highway 68 to Highway 304 north about 3.5 miles to Ewing Cemetery Road on left. Follow road to cemetery.
Baker Family Take Highway 304 north to Wasson Road. Turn right. Cemetery is about a tenth of a mile on the right. No marked graves but a memorial stone is erected in honor of those buried there.
Ball Located off Highway 304 South on Lankford farm south of Big Sewee Creek.
Beech Springs Located about one mile east of the Meigs County line in Bradley County on the old Joe Grisham farm on No Pone Valley Road. Is about 2 acres of graves but a small number is all that are marked.
Beta Located on the east side of Highway 58 about eight south of Decatur.
Bethsadia Highway 58 south about four miles. Turn right on Cottonport Ridge Road. (May be named differently now. There are signs for the church on Highway 58.)
Birchwood Located near Birchwood, TN. 2 unmarked graves have been recorded.
Birchwood Baptist Church This cemetery is located in Hamilton County near the Meigs County line on the grounds of the church. There are about 300 graves but the list in the cemetery book only lists those listed by the WPA in the 1930's. Many individuals listed in the Meigs County census are buried here.
Birchwood Methodist Church Located in Birchwood , Hamilton County near the Church of God. It contains many burials of Meigs County residents.
Blankinship Located on William R D Blankenship property near Bunker Hill Ferry on a high hill overlooking the Hiwassee River.
Blevins and Correll Located north of Highway 30 four miles west of Decatur. (Turn right just past Mount Calvary Church road. On Jimmy Price's place)
Browder Located about 2 ½ miles northwest of Birchwood at Old School House site on Lower River Road. (About ½ way between the road and the Tennessee River.)
Burkett Chapel Located about two miles west of Big Springs and 14 miles south of Decatur.
Buttram Located behind Carl Watson's house south of Highway 30 west between Decatur and Washington Ferry.
Calico This old cemetery is located about 3 tenths of a mile northeast of Mount Calvary Church and contains several unmarked graves.
Cofer Located 6 miles north of Georgetown on old Highway 58.
Cole Located on Hagler Farm. Take old Highway 68 east toward Sweetwater. Turn left on Old Ten Mile Road. Cemetery is in a field on the east side of the road.
Collins Located on a ridge overlooking Watts Bar Lake. Take Highway 304 north off Highway 68. Turn left at Hacklers Market (Huff Bend Road) then go1 mile.
Concord This cemetery is sometimes referred to as Lower Concord and is located about 6 miles west of Decatur. Take Highway 30 and turn right on Concord Church Road. Cemetery is about 3 miles in front of Concord Methodist church.Concord (At Ten Mile) Take Highway 58 north out of Decatur. Go to Highway 68 south. Turn right and go to Concord Valley Road. Turn left. Stay on this road to the church and cemetery.
Cooley Located near the intersection of Highway 68 north and Dake Road and Highway 304 north.
Cooley-Evans Located just south of the Meigs County-Roane County line on the Billy Butler Farm on Highway 304.
Corinth Located on the north side of the old Ada Wrinkle farm, west of No Pone Valley Road and about 2 ½ miles north of Mt Zion Church. The church site was between the spring and cemetery and is found only with a guide. Only a few graves are marked.
Cottonport Located on the Cottonport Baptist Church property on the east bank of the Tennessee River. Take Highway 30 west to Cottonport Road. Turn left and follow church signs to cemetery.
Cowan Located five miles south of Decatur off Lamontville Road behind Lakehaven Resort.
Cox Located between Cox Lane and Highway 58 south of Decatur near Goodfield community.
Culvahouse-Butler This cemetery located at Euchee contained 20 unidentified graves Culvahouse This cemetery was shown on the WPA maps but no description or notes were in the file. It was located east of Euchee Road about 6 miles north of Highway 68.
Daniels This is not classified as a cemetery but has one grave. Located on the John Daniels farm on Woods Hollow Road in Meigs County.
Dearmond Located 7 miles from Decatur on Highway 30 west. Turn north on Hunter Bend Road and go to Miss Bertie DeArmond farm.
Deatherage or Pickle Located about 16 miles north of Decatur off Highway 58. Turn left on Maple Grove Road. Drive to top of the hill and the cemetery is on the right in a field on Tom Mercer Farm.
Decatur Located two blocks west of the courthouse in Decatur. Entrance near Meigs High School.
Defriese Family Located near Birchwood in Hamilton County. Turn north from Highway 60 onto Defriese Road and go 2 tenths of a mile to a junkyard. There are no visible signs of the cemetery remaining.
Doughty Family Located on the left south bank of the Hiwassee River in the Blythe Ferry Wildlife area.
Eastview Baptist Church This new cemetery has been referred to in obituaries as Eastview or New McDonald. It is located south of Hiwassee River and west of Highway 58 south on Eastview Road.
Eaves Located on south side of Highway 30 about 5 miles west of Decatur.
Edgemon Take Highway 58 north to Ten Mile Grocery. Turn left and follow road to cemetery on the left.
Eldridge Located on the J F Eldridge farm near Birchwood on left bank of Hiwassee River.
Erwin Located on west side of Hale Hollow Road north of Big Springs to Calhoun Road. About one mile north of Hiwassee River.
Five Point Baptist Located about 1 ½ miles west of Decatur. Turn south off Highway 30 on to Goodfield Road. Cemetery is near the church.
Fooshee This cemetery was located in the Watts Bar Lake Reservoir. Most graves were left with the exception of two that were moved to Westview Cemetery at Sweetwater, Tennessee.
Forest Grove Located 4 ½ miles from Decatur on the west side of Highway 304 north of Sewee Creek.
Francisco Located about 8/10ths of a mile northeast of Georgetown on Francisco Road in Bradley County.
Frazier Located on the James S Frazier property on Tennessee River.
Gamble or Evans Located about one mile east of the intersection of Highway 58 and 68. Cemetery is on the right.
Gibson Located on the right side of Centerpoint Road two and ½ miles from Highway 58. Turn right 4 miles north of Decatur on Centerpoint Road.
Godsey # 1 Located on the Edward S Godsey tract on the right bank of the Hiwassee Rivers near Price's Creek. Has been abandoned for years and no markers.
Godsey # 2 Located on Lamontville Road and Price Creek near the Hiwassee River.
Goodfield United Methodist Church Located 4 miles south of Decatur. Turn west on Goodfield Road and go ½ mile.
Goodfield (Upper) Baptist Church Located about 4 miles south of Decatur and ¼ mile west of Highway 58.
Good Hope Located south of Decatur and west of Highway 58 on Armstrong Ferry Road across the road from Good Hope Baptist Church.
Graveley Hill or Roberts Take Highway 58 north to Nebo Road. Follow Nebo to Pleasant Hill Road. Turn left and go to Roberts Ridge Road. Turn right and follow road to Roberts Cemetery Road. Turn left.
Harden Located on the Jay Ricker farm south of Decatur. Just off Highway 58 and north of Harden Creek.
Hardwick This cemetery was located on the east bank of the Tennessee River and the east side of Huff Bend Road. The interments were moved to various cemeteries when Watts Bar Lake was created. (The book contains names of some that were moved and the cemetery to which they were moved.)
Harris WPA records indicate that this cemetery was located on the left bank of the Hiwassee River on the Charles M Harris property.
Hickory Flat, Eggshell or Peakland Turn left from Decatur on Highway 68 north. The go to Old Highway 68. Located on the south side of old Highway 68. (This is a Black cemetery.)
Hinkle family Located about 3 tenths of a mile west of the Old Wells farm home on top of a hill in Bradley County and about ½ mile southeast of Georgetown and the Meigs County line.
Hornsby Chapel Take Highway 58 north to Highway 68 north. Turn left. Go to Highway 304 north and go turn left on Hornsby Hollow Campground Road. Cemetery is on the left.
Houser/Howser Located on the north side of Plank Road about 6 ½ miles south east of Decatur and a short distance from Highway 58 south.
Huff Located about one mile north of the intersection of Highway 304 north and Peakland Road. The cemetery is about ½ mile off the road on a very steep hill.
Hunter Community Located about 3 tenths of a mile northeast of Georgetown Post Office and the intersection of Georgetown Road and Old Highway 58. It is between Old Highway 58 and the Charleston Highway and 2 tenths of a mile east of old highway 58 in Bradley County.
Hunter (Thomas) Located north of Highway 30 west. Turn north on concord Church Road and go 2 ½ miles. Behind the Dunno place.
Hutsell Located about a mile from the intersection of Highway 58 and 68. Cemetery is on the right in a field.
Ingle Take Highway 30 west out of Decatur. Turn right immediately past Calvary Baptist Church.
Johnson, Finley, Thompson Located about 1 mile north of the intersection of Highway 58 and Euchee Road. The cemetery is on the left of the road and is surrounded by a concrete fence.
Johnston Located 10 miles from Georgetown on Brittwell/Brittsville Road. Two miles off old Highway 58.
Knight Located near Keylon Springs about ½ miles northwest of Ten Mile on west side of Highway 58. Turn left on Lee Powell Road. Go a short distance to Mitchell Road. Turn right. Cemetery is directly behind the house once occupied by LeRoy Mitchell.
Lewis Located on Joe Masoner farm on Lamontwille Road seven miles east of Big Springs.
Limestone Go from Georgetown one mile on old Highway 58 to the Miller Farm.
McCall Located on the Franklin Carter farm. Highway 58 north to Nebo Road. Turn right and go to Pleasant Hill Road. Turn right and follow Pleasant Hill Road to Franklin Carter farm.
McClanahan Located on Goodner Road north of Eastview, south of Hiwassee River and west of an inlet that parallels Highway 58.
McInturf Located on Highway 60 west. Go west from Highway 58 past Birchwood to the county line. Cemetery is on the right.
McKenzie Located on Agency Creek Road about one mile north of junction with Lamontville Road.
McPhearson (S E) Located north of Decatur and east of Highway 58. Cemetery is located about 2 ½ miles from Ten Mile Grocery on Old Ten Mile Road on the Bostic Farm.
Maple Grove Baptist From junction of Highway 58 and 68, go north on Highway 68 north. Turn on Highway 304 north. Keep on Highway 304 north. Church and Cemetery are on the left.
Mavity Located s7 miles southeast of Big Springs and across the road from Lewis Cemetery.
Moore Located on the J W Moore farm on the end of a ridge that parallels the Tennessee River north of Blythes Ferry.
Moore Family From Highway 68 north, turn on Moore Cemetery Road. Follow road to cemetery sign on left. Turn sharply to the left and up a hill to the cemetery.
Mountain View Memorial Gardens Located about 4 miles north of Decatur on the east side of highway 58.
Mount Carmel Located on Lamontville Road behind Mount Carmel Methodist Church. About 1 ¼ miles east of Highway 58.
Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Located on Cottonport Road about 3 ½ miles northwest of Highway 58.
Mount Wesley and Griffith Take Highway 58 to Nebo Road. Turn left. At the top of the hill, turn left on Meadows Road. Cemetery is on top of the hill on the Shearman Farm.
Mount Zion From Highway 68 south, turn left on concord Church Road. Follow road to Mt Zion church on right.
Neeley Take old Highway 58 out of Georgetown to Neeley Farm. Turn right. Cemetery is 1 mile on this road.
Oak Grove Cemetery From intersection of Highway 58-68, turn left on Highway 68 north. Watch for signs for Oak Grove Methodist Church. Follow signs to church and take Oak Grove Road up and around the hill to the cemetery on the left of the road.
Peak Located on the old Peak farm north of Decatur. Take Highway 58 north to Centerpoint Road. Turn right on Centerpoint Road. Cannot be seen from the road.
Peak-Hornsby Located on the old Hornsby farm on the east side of the Tennessee River. Turn off Highway 68 north where you see the Oak Grove Methodist Church sign. Follow the church signs to church. Instead of turning into the church, stay straight and follow the road to the end of the road. The cemetery is in a fenced in area straight ahead of the end of the road.
Perry Located on NoPone Valley Road on the Ferguson Farm. (No other directions given.)
Pisgah Go north on Highway 58 north to Centerpoint Road. Continue until you see the Pisgah Cemetery Road. Turn right and follow road to cemetery.
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Take Highway 58 north of the 58/68 junctions to Nebo Road. Turn right on Nebo. Follow Nebo to Pleasant Hill Road. Turn right and cemetery is across the road from the church. (Note: This is where Ottis Gene and I will be buried.)
Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Take Highway a58 south to Pleasant Hill Church Road. Follow signs to church and cemetery.
Plemmons Place Turn left off Highway 58 north on Womac Hollow Road. Cemetery is one half mile in the woods and there is only one grave,
Poe Cemetery is on Highway 30 west about ½ mile past Concord Road on south side if highway.
Powell Located 7 miles northwest of Big Springs on Thomas Powell farm. Cemetery is south of Tucker Road and north of Hiwassee River.
Ragland and Baldwin (Usually revered to as Ten Mile Cemetery) Go north on Highway 58 to Ten Mile Grocery. Turn right and go to Old Ten Mile Road. Follow Old Ten Mile Road to Twin Eagle Ranch. Cemetery is on the left just off the main road.
Ray Located 20 miles north of Decatur and 5/10ths of a mile off Highway 304 north in Roane County.
Reed/Butler Take Highway 68 north to Highway 304 north. Go to Butler Cemetery Road and turn right. Follow road to cemetery.
Reed, Neil or Webb Located two miles form Highway 58 on Old Ten Mile Road. (No other directions.)
Roarke (should be Roork) Located in Morgan Breedlove's yard in Lakeside community. No other direction.)
Rocky springs Turn on Highway 68 north and go to Highway 304 north. Turn right and watch for cemetery on right of road.
Runyan/Hayes Located on NoPone Valley Road just north of the Big Springs and Calhoun Road.

Sewee/Turkey Pen Located near Ziegler's Mill in northern Meigs County about 10 miles from Decatur.
Sharp Go north on Highway 58 to Woody Lane. Turn right. Follow Woody Lane to Old Ten Mile Road. Turn right. Then go to Little Egypt Road. Turn left and watch for cemetery.
Sherrill This cemetery was located on the Ethel Sherrill tract and near the junction of the Hiwassee and Tennessee rivers.
Shiloh Baptist Church Go south on Highway 58 from Decatur. Turn on Shiloh Church Road. Follow this road to Shiloh Baptist Church. Turn right at the church and follow signs to cemetery. Sinks Located on Highway 58 north of Decatur on the Don Layman farm.
Smith (Mumford) # 1 One third mile from Hunter Bend Road near Calico Community.
Smith # 2 Located on W.H.(Bill) Burn farm in lower Concord. West of Decatur about ½ mile northeast of Washington Ferry and Highway 30.
Smith # 3 Located on the George Grant farm in the Peakland Community off Highway 68 north. 2 unmarked graves.
St Elmo United Methodist Church Located 2 miles east of Georgetown on Francisco Road and ½ mile east of Mt Zion Road in Bradley County.
Stewart Located on the Stewart Farm 3 ½ miles north of Decatur on the left side of Highway 58 north.
Sullivan Located on Rivermeet Farm on Armstrong Ferry Road about 12 miles south of Decatur.
Taylor Located west of Decatur and north of Highway 30 on the Burn Farm.
Ten Mile This cemetery was located across the road from the Ten Mile Baptist Church on Old Ten Mile Road in northern Meigs County. Reportedly covered about 2 acres but all stones and any evidence of a cemetery are gone.
Walnut Grove Take Highway 30 east to NoPone Valley Road. Turn right and go to Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Cemetery is near the church.
Wann This cemetery was on the banks of the Tennessee River before Watts Bar Lake was formed. Two burials were moved to Hornsby Chapel Cemetery.
Wasson Located 17 miles north of Decatur on Highway 304 north on the Dudley Culvahouse farm.
Watkins Located on the left bank of the Hiwassee River on the Roy L Watkins tract of land. 3 graves.
Whispering Pines Located on north Nopone Valley Road near Walnut Grove Baptist Church. The cemetery is overgrown and in bad shape.
Winton Located on the Earl Bostic farm in northern Meigs County northeast of the Ten Mile Quarry. It is situated ¼ way up the knob on the north side of the fence line.
Woolsey Located on Old Ten Mile Road 3 miles above the Ten Mile quarry and on the John Gregory Farm.
Wood or Clint Hill Located south of Decatur on Highway 58. Cross the Hiwassee River bridge and turn on the first road to the right. Go 1/3 mile and the cemetery is on the left in the woods past some houses.
