Wm. H. Barnhill bill of sale of negroes to R.C.
Houston
I have this day sold and do hereby convey to Robert C.
Houston his heirs and assigns forever
for $1075.00 to me paid a woman slave named Letticia?
about 26 years old and a boy slave named Maddison about
3 years old and another boy slave named Wilson about 13
months old. I warrant the said slaves to the said
Robert C. Houston his heirs and assigns
against the lawful claims of all persons. I also
warrant the said slaves all to be sound healthy sensible
and slaves for life this the 4th day of January 1850.

Wm. H. Barnhill bill of sale to John Wardlow
Received of John Wardlow
$320.00 in full consideration for a negro boy named
Jerry about 5 years old. I hereby warrant the boy Jerry
to be sound and sensible and a slave for life given
under my hand and seal this 18th day of January 1851.

William H. Barnhill deeds to Robert C. Houston
I, William H. Barnhill of the county of
McNairy County and state of Tennessee have this day
bargained and sold and do hereby convey unto Robert C.
Houston for the consideration of
$300.00 to me in hand paid the following tract or parcel
of land lying in McNairy county in 3rd range and 1st
section bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake the SW
corner of entry No. 1455 in the name of Wm. S.
Wisdom running east 144 poles to a post oak and
4 black oak pointers then south 212 poles to a stake
black oak and post oak pointers then west 220 poles to a
black oak white oak and 2 dogwood pointers then north
200 poles to a stake chestnut and 2 white oak pointers
then north 60 poles to a white oak black oak pointers
then west 20 poles to a white oak black oak and white
oak pointers then as north 100 poles to a dogwood and 4
hickory pointers thence east 144 poles to a white oak
elm and 2 hickory from thence south 148 poles to the
beginning containing by estimation 397 acres to have and
to hold the above described land and bargained premises
to the said R.C. Houston his heirs and
assigns forever. I do covenant with the said R.C.
Houston that I am lawfully of said land
in fee simple and I do warrant the title to R.C.
Houston his heirs and assigns against the
lawful claims of all persons.
