ARCHIBALD
HOUSTON
Archibald Houston served in the Revolutionary War. At
an early age he moved to Kentucky and two of his
children were born in a fort. He moved to Middle
Tennessee, lived there a few years and moved to McNairy
Co. in 1822, lived in said county until his death.

Archibald Houston came from Pennsylvania to Tennessee
about the time Tennessee was admitted to the union,
settling in Giles County, Tennessee. He served as a
soldier in the Revolutionary War and in the War of
1812. His wife was Rebecca Cunningham, an orphan, who
came with relatives to this country from England.
Archibald and Rebecca came to McNairy County,
Tennessee in 1821, residing first half a mile north of
an area now referred to as Guys and later moving a mile
and a half south of that point. Houston died and was
buried at this location in the early 1830's.
