LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF WILLIAM MOORE
State of Tenn.
McMinn Co.
"I William Moore of the County of McMinn and state of Tennessee being
of
sound mind and memory do make ordain publish and declare this to
be my Last
will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills
by me at
any time made -- after all my just & lawful debts and funeral
expenses are
paid and discharged. The residue of my estate real and personal
-- I give
bequeath and dispose of as follows (To Wit) To my Two Sons Hugh
and
Alexander the farm on which I live together with my negro boy Jack
and they
Hugh & Alexander Shall pay to my son Joseph fifty dollars to
my son William
fifty dollars to my son Hamilton fifty dollars to my son James fifty
dollars and to my daughter Mary Sweeny fifty but they are to have
ample
time Say from Two to four years after my decease in which to make
said
payments if either of My Sons Hugh or Alexander shall before my
decease
have died Leaving lawful issue such issue to receive the farm to
Share but
if therebe no issue then Such Share to the Survivors To my son William
my
negro boy Jake my negro Girl Rose to that one of my children that
she may
select to be her master or Mistress and she is hereby empowered
to make
such selection to my two grand daughters Una & Ibby Basket twenty
five
dollars each My Negro girl Cate to be sold to pay my just debts
all the
rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate I desire
to be
divided equally among all my children I like wise make consititute
and
appoint Urial Johnston to be my Executor of this my Last will and
testament

William Moore died July 24, 1862.
I am sending this in response to your request for McMinn Co. wills.
My GG
Grandfather William Moore was a farmer in McMinn Co. He moved to
McMinn Co.
from Roane Co. (present day Loudon Co.) in 1846, and lived there
until his
death in 1862. Descendants of William Moore still live in
McMinn Co. The
following is his will (I have kept the punctuation or lack of it
and
spelling as it appears in the will):
