Benjamin F. Martin (1814 - ? ) House, 34th (Confederate) General Assembly, 1861-63; representing McMinn County; born in Cock County December 15, 1814.; son of Joseph I. and Sarah (Smartt) Martin. Described as 'well educated'; Married July 18, 1833, to Ruth R. Dill, native of Gettysburg, Pa.; children- W. Frank, Sarah, Henry C., Zachary T., and Emmeline; learned Carriage Maker's trade, built coffins and operated a general store with the firm name of B.G. Martin and Son, Calhoun, Tennessee, 1885 member of Methodist Episcopal Church south; Royal Arch Mason; elected Worshipful Master Hiwassee Lodge No. 188, Free and Accepted Masons for thirtieth time; member of Grand Lodge from 1857. Elected Major in Tenn. Militia, 1843. Date of death and place of burial not determined.
