(College Grove)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DIED:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Oct. 5, 1834, Bedford Co., TN.&nbsp; Buried in Cannon Cemetery at Belfast.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FATHER&#8217;S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Minos Cannon, born 1756 in MD.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MOTHER&#8217;S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Letitia Thompson, born Aug. 29, 1753 in Guilford Co., NC (then Anson).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>NOTES:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>This part of Bedford Co. became Marshall Co.&nbsp;Thompson Cannon was probably the 2nd settler to come to Belfast, TN.&nbsp; The first was Nathaniel Dryden.&nbsp; Thompson was one of five sons born to Minos Cannon, soldier of the Revolutionary War.&nbsp; Thompson&#8217;s mother, Letitia Thompson, was the daughter of Robert or Roger Thompson, &#8220;The Regulator&#8221;, and the first man to fall at the Battle of Alamance.&nbsp; It is said that his was the first blood shed in the Revolutionary War.&nbsp; The Cannons came from NC to Williamson Co., TN.&nbsp; Thompson&#8217;s brother, Clement, gave the land for the county seat of Bedford and brother Newton became Governor of TN.&nbsp; His parents are buried in the Old Cannon Cemetery in College Grove, Williamson Co., &nbsp;where the Cannon Plantation used to be.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>WIFE:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Elizabeth Kinnard.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BORN:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>April 15, 1795.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DIED:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>March 23, 1864, Marshall Co.
