was born (July 8, 1888 and died Sept. 3, 1965). He was the sheriff of
Orme, Tn., Marion County and operated one of the nearby coal mines of
that area. He married Ethel Lee FERGUSON Aug. 10, 1910 in Orme, Tn. (b-
Oct. 31, 1888-d-June 19, 1963) and was the daughter of William Francis
FERGUSON and Tennessee Louise THOMAS. Tennessee Louise THOMAS was born
Nov. 29, 1856-March 2, 1923). She was the daughter of William H. THOMAS
and Susan Jane RAULSTON. William Francis FERGUSON was the son of William
Houston FERGUSON and was born Nov. 7, 1853-Oct 27, 1929. He was a mail
carrier for Orme, Tn. James Fredrich ROLLINS was the son of John
Jefferson ROLLINS (B-Dec. 25, 1859-Aug. 3, 1923) born in Martin Springs,
Tn. and Margaret Martha Ann ANDERSON (B-March 19, 1861-D-Jan 5, 1919.
Have not been able to locate their wedding information and her place of
birth. They are buried in Franklin County, near Sewanee, Tn. John
Jefferson Rollins was the son of Jim ROLLINS, Sr. and Olivia Ann ? He
was married again to Becky PARTIN possibly of Tracy City in Grundy
County, Tn. Margaret Martha Ann Anderson was the daughter of John (or
Albert) Spencer ANDERSON and Rebecca Elizabeth ENOCH. They were married
Jan. 9, 1848, in Lincoln Co., Tn. Does anyone have information relating
to these families? If so please contact us.

Virginia. He lived in Anderson County for 30 years;
before moving to Marion County Tn. He was granted a Revolutionary

John was born in Ireland July 24, 1837 and died July 25, 1921 in
Whitwell, Marion Co., TN.
John KING had 2 wives: Nancy CANTRELL and Jane MITCHELL LAYNE. John
KING had 7
children--which wife belongs to which child, I don't know. The 7
children are:
1) Ida Belle KING, born 1876.
2) Alice KING, born ca 1872, married a James KILGORE, Jan. 29, 1883.
3) Mary KING, born 1866, in Tennessee.
4) Margaret KING, born 1870, Tennessee; died June, 1938; married a John

1910 Census of Marion County, Tn, Dist. 3 states that Hannah, age 7 and
Maggie, age 6 are the children of William JAMES, age 45, was born in
Ohio, his father in US and mother in VA. Louise JAMES, age 40, was born
in GA, father in TN and mother in GA. They were married for 19 years and
William was a laborer on the RR. If anyone has any information on any of
these people listed, please let me know as Maggie was my grandmother.

6 years old. Her parents were William and Louise James and her sister

Searching for information on GOTTFRIED (KERCHER) CARRIGER, SR.. A
Tennessee Historical Commission plaque "CARRIGER'S LANDING" now
stands in the Hunter Community of Carter County documenting the CARRIGER
family's mark on early Carter County history. Gottfried and Anna
Margaratha Anspach CARRIGER had the following children: Nicholas,
Michael, John, Elizabeth, Godfrey, Jr. and Christian. In 1811 Nicholas
and Catherine CARRIGER and all of their known children moved to Lincoln
County, Tennessee. Many of Nicholas's children later migrated into
Greene County, Illinois. Christian and Levicy WARD CARRIGER had fourteen
children, all of whom were born in Carter County. In 1842 Christian and
Levicy and some of the younger children left Carter County and settled in
Independence, Missouri. Nicholas CARRIGER (the son of Christian
CARRIGER) became a selfmade historian having documented the events of the
CARRIGER family to become the sixth family to "OVERLAND IN
1846". Other surnames connected to the Carriger marriage in Carter
County are: William WARD & ANN VANDERPOOL - Teeter NAVE &

On Aug 30, 1997, I found in a Book "Murder, Mayhem, and More"
by Ms Euline Harris that Doll Teague died in May 1898 in a
mine. The article was blurred and the article wasn't specific
about the location of the mine.
Doll/Dolphus Teague died May 1898 in a coal mine in
Whitwell/TRACY City, MarionCo., TN..
He lived for several hours and talked with his family.
He was survived by a widow and 4 children.
I have not been able to find the family together anywhere. I found both
Hannah and Doll/Dolphus at age 21 on the 1870 Marion Co Census
but I haven't found them for 1880 and no information on the
Children of this couple, my great grandparents.

in Chester Co. PA. He married again on 29 Oct 1825 to Betsy
FLEENOR of Roane Co. TN. He had two children: My GGG-GF,
John Cloud HALEY, b. 7 Feb 1777 d. 3 Sep 1840. and James HALEY,
of which I know nothing. The story is that David saw the
impending revolution coming, and sent His wife, and as
yet unborn son John back to Ireland for safety's sake.
I know that John C. Haley became a Physician, and returned at
some time to the US, and settled in Roane Co. TN.

I am researching the HUFFSTUTLER/HICKS/HALE family of Marion Co., TN.
James T. Huffstutler b. 1845, TN married Sarah b. 1846. Their son John
Huffstutler b. 1880 m. Mary Jane Hicks, dau. John Walker Hicks and Nancy
Hale. Is there anyone out there who can tell me more about James T. Do
not know where his family was before the Civil War. Do you know who
Sarah's parents are? Sure would love to connect with more of the

HARVEY FAMILY
I am looking for more information on Michael Harvy, who is listed in the
1830 Census of Marion County. He is listed as between the age of 15-20
living with a woman age 15-20. I have a Michael Harvey who as born 1810
in Tennessee, and married a Sarah, who as also born 1810 in Tennessee.
This might be my Family, because these Harvy's are the right age, If you
have any information that could help me out I would appreciate it.

McCoy and a Nancy Ellen McCoy wife of Jonathan Turner. Could these be the

Searching for information on Stephen and Rebecca SALYER KILGORE. STEPHEN
KILGORE b c1760-1770; d 1841-1845 in Victoria, Marion Co, TN. He married
REBECCA SALYERb. c1770 and d. after 1860 in TN. This family is beleived
to have come to Victoria, Marion Co, TN about 1808. Steven was a farmer
and a Methodist preacher. He and Rebecca are buried in the family
Cemetery at the foothills of Walden's Ridge. Possible children:
Barbara; Craven; Hiram m. Nancy LAYNE; Charles; William; Stephen;
Rebecca married Abraham LAYNE; John; Jane; Ester m. John LAYNE and
Joseph. I would like to find Stephen's father. Would love to share
