Marion County.
DRAKE-McDANIELS
The first time that I can find my grandfather is in the 1900
census where he is stated as single and a boarder in the Whitwell
area. His name is Thomas James Drake. I was always told his
mother was a McDaniels and she died when he was very young.
The only 1880 Marion County census I have seen from the LDS
church, several pages are mildewed and blacked and names are
unreadable. According to his death certificate in PA his
birthplace is listed as Whiteside, TN. Parents unknown.
Does anybody know anything about a McDaniels-Drake marriage?
I have been searching for this information for a very long time.
Mr. Drake married Sallie Smith of Whitwell (at Tracy City.)
Thanks so much!! wanda casker

John CUNNINGHAM, my g-g-grandfather, arrived Marion Co., TN ca. 1820 to
live there until his death in 1842. He was able to aquire onsiderable
land holdings through grants. Married Jane Ellie HENDERSON apparently
prior to their arrival. Their children, most of whom were born there,
are as follows: Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM (married Wm. McMURRY), Riley
Alexander CUNNINGHAM, Amy (or Anni, Angy) Homes CUNNINGHAM (maried James
M. KELLY), John D. CUNNINGHAM (Elizabeth McCLUSKEY), Pleasant Henderson
CUNNINGHAM (Virginia Ann "Jennie" McMURRY), Rachel Montgomery
CUNNINGHAM (married Johnethon McMURRY, Unity Hollie CUNNINGHAM. None of
the family were known to be living in Marion Co. by 1850. Am most
interested in knowing where John CUNNINGHAM came from when he migrated to
Marion Co. Obviously, am most interested in his ancestry. Would also
like information on the children of the family and their descentants.
Have significant info on John D. and Pleasant Henderson CUNNINGHAM that I
would be happy to share.

BEENE-Did your BEENE relatives leave the serene mountainside of TN
to find their fortunes in AR, OK or TX? If so, we may be related.
My renegade ancestor Samuel W. BEENE left the simple life in
Marion Co. circa 1861 for places West. Along the way his first wife,
Rachel MORRIS died and he took a new bride, Nancy TELFORD in AR. By the
time the old man layed down for the last time, he'd fathered
13 children: Giddeon, John M., Russell, Robert, Mary Amanda, Jay,
George, Charlie, Burlie, James Monroe, Sarah Ann and Cora. Do any of
these
names sound familiar? Is Samuel W. one of your grandfathers? If so

SMITH - JOHN CHARLES SMITH - TILDON SMITH - DAVE SMITH
I am researching the Smith family! TILDON C (probably Charles)
(sometimes spelled TILTON) was born 1875 in Hamilton Co, TN according to
his death certificate. The obituary shows Father: CHARLES SMITH. A
Bible records says JOHN CHARLES SMITH. -
I know that TILDON had a brother DAVID l born 1878 om Jasper, Marion Co,
TN. However, the 1900 Census in Tarrant Co, TX shows him born in 1882.
There was a younger half-brother TOMMY.
One would think with this info, I could find them in Tennessee in 1880.
By 1900 the boys were in Texas. A grandson says he remembers his
grandfather cathing the train in Chattanooga and coming to visit his
family when the grandson was about 10 years old. The family Bible says
JOHN CHARLES SMITH died 1912 in Chattanooga, Tn.
I CANNOT FIND THIS FAMILY IN TENNESSEE in 1880! Maybe listed as JOHN
SMITH - CHARLES SMITH - JOHN CHARLES SMITH - but would have a son TILDON
C SMITH. Please help.
