Will of John D. Choat

In the name of God. amen
I John D Choat of Marion County, State of Tennessee being of sound mind and disposing memory and the
uncertainties of life, do hereby make and publish this my last will and testement, hereby revoking all
others which I may at anytime heretofore have made and hereby making all others void and of no effect.
First: I will and desire that all of my funeral expenses
and just debts be paid out of any moneys and personal property which I may have on hand or be possessed
of at the time of my death.
Second: I will devise and bequeath to my beloved wife
Angeline Elizabeth Choat all of my property both real and personal which I may be possessed at my death,
to be hers absolutely to manage and control as she pleases with full power to sell and convey both the
real and personal property and to dispose of the proceeds as she desires, except so much as may be
necessary as taled [sic] item first of this will as will be sufficient to pay off and discharge my funeral
expenses and such just debts as I may owe at my death.
Third: It is my will and desire that my said wife be and
she is hereby fully authorized, and empowered to sell and convey by deed, any and all real estate of
which I may die seized and possessed. Conveying the same when she so desires by deed in fee simple with
full covenants of warranty warranting and conveying to forever warrant and defend the title to any and all
of said lands against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever in a full & perfect manner as I
could do in life and to take and approate [sic] all the proceeds arrising [sic] from any and all sales of
said real estate or any part thereof as she may wish and desire and apply & appropiate [sic] the same
to her own use and desires [illegible word] in such manner and as she the said Angeline Elizabeth Choat
pleases and desires.
Fourth: It is further my will and desire that my said wife
Angeline Elizabeth Choat in whom I have full confidence in and she is excused from accounting to the
Courts or to any else for any of the proceeds of any and all sales of any real property she may see fit
to sell and convey and that she be not required to file or make any inventory sale list or statement of
any of proceeds of any of my said estate both real and personal and that she be not required to make any
statements within the Courts.
Fifth: It is further my will and desire that my said wife
Angeline Elizabeth Choat be and she is excused from giving any bond for the execution of this will and
excused from giving and and all bonds for the assets of said estate, and that she be not required to give
or make any kind at all as executor.
Sixth: I hereby nominate and appoint my said wife
Angeline Elizabeth Choat to execute this my last will and testament and to do all things necessary in and
about my said estate as such executor without oath or bond.
Seventh: I publish and make this my last will and
testament this day in presents of subscribing witness hereto signed whom I have this day called and in
their presence, and in the presents of each other I have signed sealed and made and published this my
last will and testment in their presents and they have each signed the same as subscribing witness at my
request in my presents and in the presents of each other on this the 27th day of April in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety five.
