Will of Charles Hancock

I, Charles Hancock of the County of Marion and State of Tennessee have this day made and published my last will and testament as follows (to wit) I give and bequeath to my son Calvin E. Hancock and his heirs and assigns forever and to his wife Mary P. Hancock she is to have the property so long as she may live or remain single and in case she married again then she relinquishes her claim to said property

Beginning a corner between Jeff Maston and said Hancock in a lane on J Crit Kelleys line; thence with Kelly line or lane S 25 W 43 poles; thence on with said public road S 40 1/2 W 50 poles to near shape; thence on with said road S 21 1/2 W 21 1/2 poles to opposite a cedar fence post with three notches cut in it; thence leaving the road S 73 1/4 E 44 poles to center of ditch near double hickory; thence up the ditch S 85 1/2 18 poles [sic] thence W 89 3/4 E 28 1/5 poles; to a stone set in the ground it being the corner between said Hancock and Bible; thence Eastward with Bible's line to Lewis corner; thence Northward with the Lewis and Hancock line to the Maston corner; thence Westward with to [sic] Maston line to the beginning containing eighty acres more or less, which I bequeath to the said Calvin E. Hancock and his heirs and assigns forever said Calvin E. Hancock to pay taxes and keep up fence, repairs on the place. We have this day made and signed the conveyance to the said Calvin E. Hancock and his wife heirs forever this August 27th 1900.

Codicil that the said Calvin E. Hancock is not to have the control of the foregoing described property until after my death and the death of his mother my wife; furthermore the said Calvin E. Hancock is to pay his prorate of expenses for my and his mother's burial and other expenses in case of sickness.

I Charles Hancock of the County of Marion and State of Tennessee this day made my last will and testament (to wit): I give and bequeath to my son Oscar F Hancock and his heirs forever except his child by the Shoemake woman that he married that child to be paid five dollars. The following described piece of land bounded as follows:

Beginning at the South East corner of the J. Crit Kelley tract; thence with the road southward to the mouth of lane leading west to the H. Torbet corner, thence with said Torbet line Northward to the J. Crit Kelly line; thence with the line fence between J. Crit Kelly and said Hancock to the beginning containing 45 acres more or less the barn opposite Calvin E. Handcock house is excepted to it belongs to C. E. Hancock also field known as the cove field, bounded as follows: beginning at Bibles north west corner, thence eastward with a ditch to a corner known as the Peach Tree corner; thence northward to a stone the Bible corner, thence westward with C. E. Hancock line to the public road near a cedar fence post with three notches; thence southward with road to the beginning containing fifteen acres more or less, also the remainder of the tract known as the Smiley tract after taking fifteen acres to Rosa M Quarles off of the east side which is deeded to her and her heirs All of the foregoing described lands I give and bequeath to my son Oscar T. Hancock and his heirs as before set forth, said Oscar T. Hancock is not to have possession or control of said lands until after the death of myself and wife, furthermore said Oscar T. Hancock is to pay his prorate share of the expense of myself and wife's burial and other expenses if necessary. given under my hand and signed by me this April 25 1901.

Will Of Charles Hancock, Deceased

I, Charles Hancock of the county of Marion and state of Tennessee have this day made my last will and testament (to wit) I give and bequeath to my son Alfred Hancock and his heirs for ever all of my personal property and the track of land that I bought from J. Crit Kelly containing about one hundred acres more or less for exr [sic ?], said Alfred Hancock is to pay his prorata of my and my wife burial expense also Alfred is not to have control of said property until after my death and also my wifes, given and signed this April 25 1901.

Will Of Charles Hancock

I, Charles Hancock, of the County of Marion, State of Tennessee have this day made my last will and testament (to wit) I give and bequeath to my daughter Rosa M who married George Quarles the following described lands. She is to have all the lands that was deeded to me by T. K. Rawlings, and his heirs also, fifteen acres off of the east side of the Smiley tract.

Beginning at corner between Hancock and Rawling near J. M. Bible gate running northbound 47 poles, thence westward 42 1/2 poles to a rock; thence southward 66 poles to a rock in the line between the Rawlings and Hancock tracks, thence eastward 42 1/2 poles to beginning, containing 15 acres more or less to her and her heirs forever. Said Rosa M Quarles is not to have control of said land until after the death of myself and wife, furthermore said Rosa M. Quarles is to pay her prorata of the burial expenses of myself and wife if necessary all of which I give to her and her heirs forever. given this day and signed by me this April 25 1901.
