Pictured here is John Alexander Wakefield "Tinker" Shrum  and his 2nd wife Arminda Gaines Shrum.  According to his death certificate he was born 8 February 1838 in Macon County, TN.  His occupation was watch tinker hence the nickname "Tinker."  His father is listed as Peter Shrum who was supposed to have been born in Macon County, TN and his mother was Martha Caslin Gains b. in Allen County, Kentucky.  We believe this to be a mistake because we know his first wife to have been Martha Gaines.  Tinker died 23 day of November 1926 in the 4th district of Macon County, TN, he was single at the time of his death.  He was buried in the Wright Cemetery located on Hwy 10S in Macon County.  The informant listed here is Tinker's daughter, Artie (Mrs. Oscar) Brawner of the Hillsdale Community.

Arminda Shrum was born in March of 1848 in Tennessee.  Her father was Frank Gaines and Sallie Sisco.  She died 26 September 1923.  She was buried in the John Clark Graveyard in Jackson County, TN on the 27th day of September 1923.  Her marital status listed on this certificate is married but mutually separated.  Informant listed is P.T.
