He was born Saturday, October 20, 1917, in Macon County, TN, a son of the late <strong>Burl Driver<\/strong> and<strong> Victoria Doss Driver,<\/strong> and was a member of Akersville Baptist Church. He was a barber for many years, having formerly operated a barber shop in Lafayette, and barbered from his home on Thursday nights. He was a carpenter and a retired school bus driver for the Macon County School System and the Allen County Board of Education.<strong> Carl<\/strong> was a bass singer for the Christianaires Quartet for 30 years. On February 2, 1936, he was married to <strong>Genie Jones Driver,<\/strong> who died March 1, 1984.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law; <strong>Lillian Maurice<\/strong> and <strong>Donald Roark<\/strong> and <strong>Glenna Mitchell Driver<\/strong>, all of the Akersville; <strong>Mary Levy<\/strong> and <strong>Melburn Cothron,<\/strong> Dixon Springs, TN; one sister <strong>Oneda Jent,<\/strong> Indianapolis, IN; three brothers <strong>Eatol Driver,<\/strong> Russellville, KY; <strong>Merlin Driver<\/strong>, Lafayette, TN; <strong>Glenn Driver,<\/strong> Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, <strong>Larry Cothron,<\/strong> Shelbyville, TN; <strong>Troy Cothron,<\/strong> Dixon Springs, TN; <strong>Connie Shrum<\/strong>,<strong> Tim Roark<\/strong> and <strong>Donna Dotts<\/strong>, all of Lafayette, TN; and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he is also preceded in death by two brothers, <strong>Blon Driver<\/strong> and <strong>Billy Driver.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Funeral services were conducted 2:00 pm, Monday, May 10, 1999 at the Akersville Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Akersville Cemetery.
