NORRIS, MOORE, BAGLEY, BAILEY
I am a descendant of Ezekiel Norris, founder of Lincoln County, of which Fayetteville is the seat. Apparently his father was a slaveowner who mated with Minerva, an African slave. He later freed them and Minerva married a “Braden”. Ishan Norris was the son of Minerva prior to her marriage to the “Braden”. His sister’s name was Sophie. One of Ishan’s relatives was Ella Raye Norris Flynt. His daughter, Helen Bagley (later Helen Lucille Moore) was my grandmother. Ishan died in 1912, and my grandmother died in 1981. All of them were African Americans. My grandmother’s family lived on Market Street in Fayetteville. Minerva had a sister, “Aunt Willie” who died in the 1970s and a “Cousin Grace” who died in the 1990s. There was also a “Mary Lou Norris” who lived on Market Street. My grandmother moved from Tennessee to Detroit, in 1915, and she and my grandfather (Samuel T. Moore), had 12 children. My mother (Esther Bernice Moore) was one of them. I am Colleen Birchett, her daughter, and my father was Wi

I’m looking for information on John Woodard who m-Sarah Ann Colston c1855 in perhaps Giles or Lincoln Co., TN. Sarah was on 1850 LCT census with her parents William and Martha Colston. In 1860 she and John Woodard were in Haywood Co., TN with two children under the age of 5; John R. and Nancy Edna who appeared to be twins, but later census proved that incorrect. They had other children; Mary, Marcoln/Morgan, Ida Jane, and West Woodard. Any help will be appreciated. Please contact me at my private e-mail address as I do not check forums often. Thanks gladys –

RHODES
I am looking for Fredville, where my great-grandmother was supposedly born. I cannot find it on any map of Tenn. One source says she was born in Fredville, and another says Lincoln County. Is or was Fredville in Lincoln County? My great-grandmother was Josephine Klugh RHODES born Oct. 10, 1880 to William Alpheus RHODES and Margaret E. CHAPMAN. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
