I am searching for information on my Scott family. Anthony Scott, age 37 listed in 1850 Lincoln county census with wife Martha (Broadway?) age 30 and children. John H. age 19; Catherine, age 17; Andrew J, age 15; Ann, age 13; James age 10; Thomas, age 9; Mary Jane, age 8; William, age 7; Benjamin F, age 5; Anthony E.H., age 3 (female). Also Martha Broadway, age 56 (probably mother of above Martha) and Jno. N Pigg. Ann is my great, great grandmother. I do not believe Martha was her mother. Appears 4 older children had one mother and the Anthony remarried and had a second family. In 1860 Giles county census Anthony is listed as Athana and female but its definitely Anthony. Appears census taker could not read his own notes. Along with Anthony, age 47 are Ann Scott, age 23 (this is same Ann from 1850 census, in the meantime she had married someone named Scott, no relation) William, Age 17; Franklin, age 15; Elizabeth, age 13 (this is the Anthony E.H. from the 1850 census) Edward, age 4; Hempsey, age 1 and Martha Broadway, age 65. Edward and Hempsey are Ann’s children. Ann was living with her father. Where was her husband? He was still living. They had other children born later. According to family Bible published 1858 belonging to Ann and W.F. Scott their children were: Edward F born April 3, 1856; Hepsey E born June 19, 1858 (this is my great grandmother, she always used the name Elizabeth Jane for all legal papers but among the Scott family at least she was called Hepsey), Frankin N born November 21, 1860, William F born May 20, 1864 and I.V. (Irvin) born December 10, 1873. Hepsey married William Kelley. William, Hepsey, their sons, Irvin Scott and his wife Laura Belle Ward left TN about 1893-94 for west TX. Later moved to AK anf then to OK. Ann died about 1875-76 and Hepsey helped raise Irvin. Unable locate W.F. and Ann in 1870 census or Irvin in 1880 census. Is there anyone out there who shares these family lines or has any information. Who was Ann’s mother? What was W.F.s full name? What happened to him? I will be happy to share

Am searching for any information on my ggrandfather JOHN WESLEY FURGERSON (May have been spelled Ferguson, Fergerson, etc.) who married MAHULDIA BRUCE. Census Records in Hopkins Co., Ky say they were both born in Tennessee, and that their first five children were born there. They were in Hopkins County in the mid 1850’s. Since there are a number of Furgersons and Bruces in the 1830 and 1840 census records of Lincoln and Humphreys Counties, I am wondering whether they might have located there before moving to Hopkins County, Ky. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

John was born on January 15, 1814 and Mahuldia on September 4, 1815. In the 1830 and 1840 Tennessee Census, there are several Bruces and Fergusons IN lINCOLN COUNTY living in close proximity. In the 1840 census of Lincoln County there is a JOHN FERGUSON listed as head of a household that included a female between the ages of 20-30, a male between the ages of 20-30, and a male child between 0-5. Does anyone know why MARSHALL county is called MARSHALL county? I ask because my MARSHALL ancesters Benjamin MARSHALL and his wife Elizabeth lived and had children in Lincoln county sometime before 1818. Their children(that I know of) were: Julius, Tempea, Allen, Judah, James, Jesse, Benjamin, Samuel, John, Polly, and DAniel. So, I wondered if MARSHALL county could possibly come from the surname MARSHALL, and if so, could it be that some of these folks might have lived in the part of Lincoln county that later split into Marshall county? Any thoughts?
