Wynia, Susan Arlene
On March 18, 2020, Mrs. Susan Arlene (Mayzlik) Wynia peacefully passed away surrounded by family in her Hohenwald, Tennessee home. Mrs. Wynia was born in Austin, MN on March 1, 1944, to Russell Frank and Ruth Signe (Thompson) Mayzlik. Susan married the love of her life, Glenn Douglas Wynia, on September 14, 1963. It was said to have been love at first sight. They lived an adventurous life together moving from Welch, Minnesota to a houseboat in Florida before settling in Tennessee. During their 56 years of marriage, Susan became a loving mother and homemaker to their four children.
She was raised on a dairy farm near Austin, Minnesota, instilling an everlasting interest in animals. Growing up she had a special love for her horse, Thunder. She attended a one-room country grade school, Peerless District 122 in Mower County, Austin, MN and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1962. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading or bringing out her artistic side with paintings. She did many beautiful oil paintings, especially of outdoor nature scenes and horses. One painting of Thunder was her proudest. Mrs. Wynia had an infectious and bubbly personality that many were instantly drawn to.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Michael Wynia, Deborah (Christopher) Coggin, and Rhonda (Jay) Wix; grandchildren Scott Wynia, Kyle Wynia, Cassidy Wynia, Erin Wynia, and Jason Wix; great-grandchildren Emily and Robert Wynia; and her siblings Judy Schwartz, Ronald (Penny) Mayzlik, John (Sandi) Mayzlik and Jerry (Connie) Mayzlik. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ruth Mayzlik, daughter Christine Wynia, brother Frank Russell Mayzlik, brother-in-laws Roger Schwartz and Kenneth Wynia; sister-in-laws Marilyn Reed Wynia, Lois Wynia Levandowski, and Shirley Wynia Anair; and father-in-law and mother-in law Alvin and Agnes (Swatosh) Wynia.
A memorial service with family and friends will take place later. Blessed be her memory; may she rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name would be appreciated and may be made to the Mayo Clinic, Center for Regenerative Medicine or High Forrest Humane Society of Hohenwald, TN.
