Hazel Diane Weatherspoon Hubbs, 74, went home to be with her Lord & Savior Sunday, August 1, 2021 after courageously battling LMS cancer and Multiple Sclerosis. The last 2 years she had been under the care of some of the most renowned physicians within the Mayo, Vanderbilt and MD Anderson health systems. In the last several months of her life, Alive Hospice oversaw her care with a loving team of doctors, nurses & caregivers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diane was born on May 19,1947 in Waverly, TN to the late Monroe & Mattie Lou Weatherspoon. She is survived by her daughters DeLana (Rodney) Parnell and DeAnna Seay and her children Savanna & Hudson all of Thompson\u2019s Station. Sisters Marjorie (Dorris) Claud & Debbie Anderson. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Barry Anderson. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great & great-great nieces & nephews, cousins and friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diane\u2019s faith, love and trust in her Heavenly Father was most paramount in her life. She was an active member for many years of Oak Valley Baptist in Franklin. She epitomized the term \u201cbe a light to others\u201d through her kindness and thoughtfulness of sending greeting cards and uplifting them in prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Time spent with her girls & grandchildren were treasured, whether it be traveling on vacations, or at a local gym watching her dearest grandchildren play basketball. History repeated itself with the lessons she taught Savanna & Hudson on drives to and from school just like she had with DeLana and DeAnna years earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diane was a graduate of Hickman Co High in 1965. While in high school she was a leader & captain on the basketball team, with state appearances in 1963 & 1964.<\/span><\/p>\n

After high school Diane graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1969 and attained her Masters Degree in Education from Austin Peay in 1975. She was a beloved elementary educator for 31 years in Hickman and Williamson Counties. During that time, over 850 students were recipients of her love and encouragement. Throughout her illness, many of her former students reconnected to let her know of the impact she had on their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diane was more than just a Momma, Grammy, Teacher and Friend. Roy Rogers, Dale Evans & Gene Autry were her childhood heros who gave her the belief that the good guys always win. She was an avid sports fan, especially college and loved her Tennessee Vols. She had a deep love of history and enjoyed traveling to new places. One of her favorite pastimes was reading from her well worn Bible, fiction, biographies and other religious works. Flowers made her happy and she loved to grow them around her home. Her vibrant personality and zeal for life was evident. Friends were extended family. She never ever met a stranger and made all who came in contact with her feel special. She will be forever loved and cherished by all who knew her.<\/span><\/p>\n

In remembrance of Diane\u2019s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Friday Friends of Hickman Co<\/em>, GraceWorks Ministries Student Fuel Bags<\/em> in Franklin or St Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Visitation will be 6 August 2021 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County.\u00a0 Funeral Services will be held 7 August 2021 at 2:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County.\u00a0 Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Centerville, TN.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
