He served in the United States Army in Vietnam on active duty from 1965-1967, including serving as an artillery survey specialist (honorably discharged in 1971).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\" data-server-action=\"\/obituaries\/Jerry-Cagle-4\/ProcessUpdateTributeObituary\" data-editclass=\"edit-obituary\" data-fieldtype=\"textarea\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Norris, Lynville Douglas, and James Audrey Cagle, and two infant sisters.
