He was a native of Summertown, teacher at Summertown High School and a retired pastor. He was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Lawrence County Baptist Association.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Rhinehart Spears; two infant sisters, Patricia Spears and Cindy Spears; one son, Alexander Spears; and one brother, Johnny Spears.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He is survived by his wife, Joyce Williams Spears of Summertown; two daughters, Lauren Thomas (Brodrick) of Hermitage, and Hannah Dunnavant (Trea) of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Sharon Springer (Phillip) of Leoma; father, Johnny Odell Spears of Summertown; and one granddaughter, Lawrence Jane &#8220;Wren&#8221; Thomas of Hermitage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Funeral services were conducted at First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg Wednesday, June 03, with Jeff Vanlandingham, Kent Shingleton, and Mickey Brackin officiating. Interment followed at Barnesville Cemetery in Summertown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In lieu of flowers, Larry requested that you use those funds to enjoy a meal with your family or make a memory together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Neal Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, assisted the family with arrangements.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Larry Thomas Spears, age 61, of Summertown, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020.
