She passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Lewis Co. Nursing and Rehab Center following a short illness. She was married to the late W. B. Brackeen for 65 years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She was an avid gardener, whether it was flowers or vegetables. Her roses will never be the same. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Survivors include a daughter, Melody Eddins (Tom); son, Jeffrey Brackeen; daughter-in-law, Donna Brackeen; sisters, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Alice Underhill all of Hohenwald. She was loved by five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: Mandy Eddins Richey (Gary), and their children, Nate, Cal and Evelyn-Anne of Lawrenceville, GA; Olivia Eddins Evans (Greg) and their children, Carter and Ansley of Wheaton, IL; Lindsay Brackeen Kibbe (Chad) and their children, Rylee and Ava of Brighton, MI; Kendall Brackeen Dabbs and her children,\u00a0 Avery and Emery; Cole Brackeen and son, Ashton of Hohenwald. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hinson.\u00a0 Visitation will be on Monday, June 3, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home &#8211; Lewis County beginning at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home &#8211; Lewis County with David Adcox and Mandy Richey officiating.\u00a0 Interment will follow in the Grinders Creek Church of Christ Cemetery. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to either the Lewis County, TN Cancer Victims Fund or the American Cancer Society.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Doris Hinson Brackeen was born in Ecorse, MI to the late John Thomas and Edith Fite Hinson.
