She passed away on July 28, 2020 in Centerville, Tennessee. She was 89 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She is the daughter of the late Paul Madison Jones and Grace Marie VanNess Jones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She was also preceded in death by her husband David Dean Tiller, grandson Zachary, and sisters Carolyn Fields, and Marie Mayberry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Heinz (Bob) of Powell, Tennessee, Diane Pinkerton (Late Terry) of Centerville, Tennessee, and Deana Lancaster (Steve) of Spring Hill, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Leslie, Rachel, and Erin. Great-Grandchildren,\u00a0 Carter, Anna, Selah, and Franklin. Along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Mrs. Tiller graduated from Hickman County High School before attending Lipscomb University for two years, and finishing a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Business, Education, and Office Administration at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She was a teacher at Hickman County High School for thirty five and one half years, teaching typing, shorthand, and general business classes. Mrs. Tiller estimated during her time teaching some 7000 students came through her classes. Upon retirement from teaching, she went to work helping her father-in-law at Tiller Furniture located just off the Centerville square.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">If you have a fond memory of Mrs. Tiller as a teacher, the family requests that you share those here on the website or write them down and bring them to the graveside services.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Visitation will be 1 August 2020 from 10:00 &#8211; 11:00 A.M. at Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, TN with Graveside Services and burial to follow at 11:00 A.M.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah Ruth Tiller was born on July 24, 1931 on her family&#8217;s farm in the Anderson Bend Community in Duck River, Tennessee.
