{"id":3326,"date":"2020-06-04T19:58:40","date_gmt":"2020-06-04T23:58:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/lewis\/?p=3326"},"modified":"2020-08-31T08:26:53","modified_gmt":"2020-08-31T12:26:53","slug":"mcdonald-funeral-home-obituary-charles-edward-churchwell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/lewis\/mcdonald-funeral-home-obituary-charles-edward-churchwell\/","title":{"rendered":"Churchwell, Charles E"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><em><strong>Charles &#8220;Sobby&#8221; Edward Churchwell<\/strong> <\/em>died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Columbia on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020, with his daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law by his side.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He was the son of the late Charlie and Hettie Jane Carroll Churchwell. He was born in Hohenwald, TN on April 29th, 1937; he resided in Hohenwald his entire life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Charles married the late Hazel Staggs on October 3rd, 1959. They were married 51 years at the time of her passing in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Charles worked at Lewis Products, which later became Dana Corp. and retired after 33 years of service. He loved fishing and was always up for a conversation about it. He was a member of the Pineview Church of Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He is survived by his son Randy (Renee) Churchwell of Union City, TN; daughter Lisa (Andy) Pogue of Columbia, TN and a cherished granddaughter Jennifer (Dallas) Jordan of Union City, TN; and two step great grandchildren Zach and Julianna Jordan of Union City, TN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Charles is preceded in death by siblings Lee Churchwell, Frances Churchwell, Martha Churchwell, Annie Ruth Nutt, Ruby Turner, and Doug Churchwell, as well as his step mother Hettie Hickerson Churchwell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Other Survivors include siblings Mary Ann Churchwell, Birdie Jo Baker, J.W. Churchwell, J.B. Churchwell, and J.L. Churchwell all of Hohenwald.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020, from 4-8 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. in Hohenwald. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Pogue officiating.
