Caught in Roof While School Was In Session<\/p>\n
The school house on Grinder’s Creek was burned Wednesday morning. The fire started in the roof and interrupted the school in the midst of the spelling class recitation.<\/p>\n
The teacher and pupils went to work with a will to save the school furniture and all the desks were carried out before the roof fell in.<\/p>\n
The building was an old-time log house, but it had been fitted up with modern desk seats.<\/p>\n
The teacher, Sam Daniel, came to Hohenwald on the afternoon train, but will return in a few days to reopen school. The remainder of the term will be taught in the church nearby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
