A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he worked as a helicopter and small engine technician. Professionally, he dedicated over 30 years to the Conalco Aluminum Factory in Jackson before retiring. Together, he and his wife worked for 16 years as live-in caregivers in a group home for mentally challenged adult men, and he had a heavy hand in building and remodeling 17 commercial and private properties. Above all, Wayne was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Bobbie Jean Chandler Droke, for over 60 years. As a father to his two sons, Walter Wayne and James Michael, he worked tirelessly to provide a stable, nurturing home that exceeded every need.

Above all else, Mr. Droke was defined by his devotion to his faith. He lived out his convictions through service, offering his time and labor to build three houses of worship: Calvary United Pentecostal, New Life United Pentecostal, and The Sanctuary United Pentecostal Churches. For decades, he served as his local assembly’s dedicated “fix-it man,” remaining on call around the clock well into his eighties. Even as his physical strength eventually waned, he remained a vital source of wisdom, always ready to offer guidance on how to complete a project or connect others with the help they needed.
Wayne Droke leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of devotion to the things that truly matter. His life reflected a clear understanding of where his heart was anchored, and he never wavered in pointing others toward Jesus as the source of all joy and peace. Ultimately, he embodied the perspective described by the Apostle Paul in Philippians: “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

He will be remembered by his son, James Michael Droke; seven grandchildren, Rebekah Ann Droke-Sykes, Jennifer Elizabeth Droke-Hensley, Eric Walter Droke, Jameson Chandler Droke, Annalee Marshall Droke-Ward, Allie Mikael Droke, and Jackson Chapman Droke; twelve great-grandchildren, Abigail Elynn Droke, Judah Nathanael Hensley, Alexander Eric Droke, Jacob Aubrey Sykes, Cherish Elise Hensley, Ezekiel Bryn Hensley, Jasper Dugan Droke, Jorja Ann Sykes, Jessie Alene Sykes, Laurence Jane Ward, Stella Kate Droke, Lynlee James Ward; along with many other extended family members and friends.

Visitation with the Droke family will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at The Sanctuary First United Pentecostal Church in Hohenwald, TN.

Burial will be held at a later date at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, TN.

McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Droke family.

Wayne Lafoy Droke, born August 17, 1930, to Alley and Viven Droke in Adamsville, TN, attained his heavenly reward on Friday, March 13, 2026.
