She grew up in Decatur County and spent much of her life in Centerville, where she built lasting relationships and made a meaningful impact on those around her.<\/p>\n<p>Laura was a devoted beautician for many years, owning and operating her own salon where she became a familiar and beloved fixture in the community for 18 years. After closing her shop, she continued to serve in the beauty industry in several capacities before eventually returning behind the chair, where she found great joy in styling hair and connecting with her clients. She spent nearly 40 years in the industry and touched countless lives through her work, kindness and genuine care for others.<\/p>\n<p>Laura had a deep love for family gatherings and treasured celebrating every holiday with the people she loved most. Easter was especially dear to her heart, as she joyfully hosted a large egg hunt each year for family and friends, bringing everyone together in laughter and love. These moments meant so much to her, and her face would light up with the biggest smile whenever she talked about them. The memories she created during those special celebrations will be cherished by her family for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>Laura cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend. Her greatest joy was watching her granddaughters grow into the beautiful young ladies they have become. Laura is survived by Gordon DeLong, Sr.; children Phyllis Lockridge, Gordon DeLong, Jr., Dana (Jeff) Sullivan; her grandchildren, Abby Lockridge, Rachel Sullivan and Rebekah Sullivan; her brother Jerry (Gloria) Phillips; special nieces, Trina (Michael) Harris, Kristie ( Dustin) Beshears; great niece Taylor (Drew) Rawl; great nephews Aiden Beshears and Henry Beshears; her great great-nephew, Capers Rawl; and Tyler Polk, Curt Lockridge and her closest and dearest friends.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville and Thursday prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.\u00a0 A service to celebrate Laura\u2019s life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McDonald Funeral Home with Bill McDonald officiating.
