He was born the son of a blacksmith and a homemaker and both of those skillsets shone through in the hard work and caring he would display through the rest of his life. His formative years were spent in Waynesboro attending school and in his teenage years working at the movie theatre in Waynesboro, eventually graduating from Wayne County High School with the class of 1971. Jackie, being a hard worker, chose the profession of &#8220;Boiler Maker&#8221; joining the &#8220;Boiler Makers Union&#8221; Lodge 455 in Muscle Shoals, Al. This profession provided him with travels and friends all around the southeast and he continued in it until his retirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"image-container w75 storyimage_centeralign\">\n<div class=\"imageDiv\">\n<p class=\"caption\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Later in his adult life, he would marry Mrs. Cheryl Skimehorne Holt in April of 2000 and the two, forever intertwining their hearts, families and lives would make their home in Waynesboro. He was of the Christian faith with Baptist roots. He was a multi-talented man as he enjoyed refurbishing antiques especially cabinet radios, old fans and any other item, he could make work like new. Mr. Holt enjoyed the outdoors particularly finding lost treasures while metal detecting. He also loved collecting old tools and in his leisure time he could be found eating Oreos and watching old &#8220;Westerns&#8221; and &#8220;Monster Movies&#8221;. However, no time he spent could compare to the time he spent with his family and friends especially his grandson. Mr. Jackie Lynn Holt passed from this life on March 01, 2026 working in the yard with the sun on his face at the age of 72 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 25 years Mrs. Cheryl Skimehorne Holt of Waynesboro; children Timothy Holt of Waynesboro, and Trenton Pitts wife Ann of Donelson, Tennessee; a child &#8220;adopted by the heart&#8221; Greenlee Pitts of Savannah; grandson Joe Barrett Pitts of Donelson; father-in-law Mr. Glen Skimehorne; brother-in-law David Skimehorne wife Debbie of Waynesboro, sister-in-law Melba Holt, sister-in-law Connie Holt, and brother-in-law Cleo Kilburn all of Waynesboro; several nieces, nephews, family members friends and dear loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Sonny Holt, Marvin &#8220;Bud&#8221; Holt, Margaret Ann Kilburn and Margie Quillen; mother-in-law Sue Skimehorne; brother-in-law Dale Skimehorne and Great Niece Taylor Grace Floyd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Funeral Services were held Sunday March 08, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Burial followed in the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family began Sunday March 08, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m., all held at the Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation chapel in Waynesboro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Ethan Skimehorne, Jim Beavers, Stan Bevis, Dustin Jones, Chris Holt, Steven Holt, Scott Smith and James Butler.
